River Thames Half Marathon

Baptist Minister and cricket chaplain Andrew Scott recently took time out from his usual Sunday church duties in Ashtead to participate in the River Thames Half Marathon on 29th October. Initially attracted to the ‘Fast, Flat & Scenic’ description of this popular running event, Andrew spent plenty of time throughout the summer and autumn months putting in the necessary hours of training in order to get himself ‘race fit’. The 13.1 mile event saw over a thousand runners pounding the streets of Walton on Thames, Molesey and the towpath that runs alongside the Thames towards Hampton Court. The finish, back at Walton on Thames, was a welcome sight to all who entered the event!

Andrew used this half marathon challenge to raise some sponsorship money for Sports Chaplaincy UK and is grateful to those who have already kindly donated funds. This was his fifth half marathon event and his finishing time of 2 hours 2 minutes was just quick enough to make it his best to date.
