This week, our CEO of Sports Chaplaincy UK, Warren Evans is offering the morning Thought of the Day on Premier Christian Radio and Premier Praise.

Below is the text and audio to the fourth thought:

Christianity is primarily about a community of liberating action, rooted firmly in the love of God shown in his actions for the world.

Good morning.

It’s the penultimate day of our time together this week. So far, we have looked at the three gifts the Wise Men brought to Jesus; Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.

In these final two days, I want to move our focus slightly to explore how we might put the Christian message and our Christian faith into action, aligning our hopes and dreams for this New Year with the priorities that Gospels indicate.

Nearly every Christian leader will be united in speaking out about the poverty of people across the UK and our world.
You don’t have to travel far to see poverty I can and do see it across the UK and in my home city.

The challenge then is what are we doing to put into practice the message of Jesus?

We all know life can throw unfair curve balls at each one. It is said that it only take 4 weeks for a person’s well-being to slip into a pit of doom and despair. It could begin with losing a good job, your family turning their back on you that could lead to being homeless and the culture which then surrounds it… but by the grace of God.

The life of Jesus, who we have celebrated as coming into the world as it’s light, was a life saturated with irony. Jesus shocked his followers into re-examining basic human prejudices, awakened them to new experiences and provoked action that changed lives and made a difference.

Christianity is primarily about a community of liberating action, rooted firmly in the love of God shown in his actions for the world.

The Church is not a secret to be kept, we are not called to be inward looking but to Go, a community that goes of which we are apart, it comes down to mucking in together. God did that first Christmas in Bethlehem by sending his Son, Jesus and continues to do in our own journeys today.

So, where are you mucking in today for the benefit of the Kingdom of God?

My name is Warren Evans, CEO of Sports Chaplaincy UK. Have a great day.
